The Integrated Sustainable Energy and Ecological Development Association (INSEDA) is the national India organization formed by the grassroots NGOs who had been involved in the promotion of renewable energy, ecological and natural resources development programmes with special focus on the implementation of biogas development in rural areas of the country, since 1980. INSEDA is a membership organization, at present having about 50 Indian NGOs as its members. The member organizations had been operating as an informal network for more than 15 years before establishing INSEDA as a formal body. INSEDA was registered as a society on December 11, 1995, under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, Delhi. The INSEDA also has Foreign Contribution Act (FCRA) Number from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA), Government of India, to receive foreign funds for implementing developmental projects/programmes in India. The area of operation of INSEDA is the entire country.

The INSEDA also hosts the Secretariats of the following International organisations:

1).  International Network for Sustainable Energy (INFORSE):

INSEDA is also hosting the Regional Secretariat of INFORSE for South Asian Region (IN-SAR) since November 1, 1995.

Even though, IN-SAR includes all the 7 SAARC Countries, but at present it is more active in India and Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, all these four countries have National Focal Point (NFP) for promoting INFORSE aims and objectives.

Raymond Myles, Secretary General-cum-Chief Executive is also the Regional Coordinator (RC) for INFORSE South Asian Region (IN-SAR).

2).  Energy Caucus- International Secretariat:

INSEDA is hosting the International Secretariat of 'NGO Energy Caucus' with effect from September 1, 2007 INFORSE for South Asian Region (IN-SAR) (w.e.f.) September 1, 2007.

3). Raymond Myles, Secretary General-cum-Chief Executive is also the honorary elected/nominated member of the following International Organisations/Networks:

(a) Coordinator (South & South East Asia) for the CURES (Citizen's United for Renewable Energy and Sustainability) since May 2004.

The international Secretariat of CURES is hosted by the German NGO Forum Environment & Development, Am Michaelshof 8-10, 53177 Bonn, Germany.
 

(b) Chairman (South & South East Asia), the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE) and the member of the Chairmen's Committee of the WCRE, since November 2006. The General Chairman of the WCRE is Dr. Hermann Scheer, MP, German Parliament, and also the President of the EUROSOLAR, and the winner of the Alternate Nobal Prize.

The International Secretariat of WCRE is hosted by the EUROSOLAR e.V., The European Association for Renewable Energy, Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße 11, D-53113 Bonn, Germany
